Many of you will be familiar with 2, High Street in Grantown, which has lain empty for the past seven years. Formerly the SSE and Clydesdale electrical showroom , the large shop window displayed TVs, fridges and freezers.

The Grantown Society which celebrates it’s 50th anniversary in 2024 has been looking for a permanent home for several years. Working with the Scottish Land Fund, we thought the location would be ideal for a local hub providing services for the community and a home for the Society.

The needs of Grantown and the vicinity were strongly reinforced in a survey (2023).

In respect of community ownership of 2 High Street, these needs inspired three objectives.

  1. Attract more people into Grantown’s High Street and support its regeneration, including provision of pop-up retail space and the availability of an ATM cash machine.

  2. Provide modern co-working and meeting room space which will have high-speed broadband connectivity and excellent facilities, supporting Grantown to be an attractive place to visit, work and live.

  3. Create a warm and welcoming space where people can drop in to learn more about what is happening in the local area and about Grantown’s history and heritage; the people and the place.

We look forward to your visit.
